Baby Room

Well we decided on a theme for the baby room--beach/island!!! Yay, I'm so excited to get started but bummed that I can't help out more with the painting, etc. If you all have any ideas, please feel free to share them!

As for me, I've been having lots of headaches. It sucks, but I guess I'll take a headache over terrible morning sickness. Not too much else going on. 9 more days of school and 19 days until we leave for Jamaica!

1st trimester. . . .gone

So today I am 12 weeks and 2 days along. Some websites say that's it some say it's at the end of the week. I think that I am now entering into the 2nd trimester, so there :) My energy level has picked up a bit and I did some yard work on Saturday with Brian. I also enjoyed my first "mother's" day, even though I'm a mommy-to-be right now. Brian got me a cute card and a picture frame and my parents and brother got me flowers--how sweet :)

I feel truly blessed to have made it this far through the journey. You hear horror stories from women at work about the dreaded "m" word and it makes you even more nervous to really know how often it occurs. I hope that this is the beginning of a wonderful journey into parenthood. I am so thankful for everything.

Heartbeat!!!!

Well Tuesday, we had another appointment and finally, baby D cooperated and we heard the heartbeat. It was amazing just to know that everything is ok in there. On top of that, somehow I lost 4 pounds since my last appointment (I also hadn't eaten lunch so we could hear better, and went to the bathroom before hand), so I guess I'm not quite packing on the pounds yet--soon though :)

2nd trimester starts Saturday (according to half the websites I visit daily) so that will be a relief as well since chances of miscarriage decrease significantly. I started wearing maternity clothes--they're so comfy!

10 weeks

Tomorrow is the big day at work--telling the co-workers my big, huge secret! Don't quite know what to think, we were going to wait another week but just can't stand it anymore. God forbid anything happen, but if it did, they'd know because I would be a wreck. I'm so excited to be a mom, I just want the best for Baby D! Dealing with a whopper of a sinus infection right now, and I really hope that the doctor can get me in today to deal with it. I really didn't want to take anything for it, but it's getting pretty nasty. Also found out I only get paid maternity leave for the sick/personal days I have so it looks like no more "mental health" days for me until November :)

Update

Not to leave everyone in the lurch but we had our appointment yesterday. Doc thought he heard the hb on the doppler but was getting a bunch of static since I had just eaten lunch. He did a quick u/s and we (well mostly Brian) got to see the baby. How s/he's grown! The doc saw the heart flutter and told us everything was fine, but since I was flat on the table I really didn't get to see much and Baby D was all over the place, Brian said s/he was really active, so I guess that's a good sign.

On another note found out I gained 3.5 pounds in two weeks, but 1.5 of that was gone after they let me go to the bathroom and I had just eaten lunch, so I'm trying not to get to dwon on myself. Just need to walk more, I can't wait for soccer season to be over so I can get into some sort of routine. All my pants still fit, but my jeans are a bit snug.

Grow Baby D, grow!

9w4d

So 9 and a half weeks pregnant and I'm bored in class so I thought that I'd post. Don't know if anyone really reads it anymore now that the anticipation of becoming pregnant is over. I can't wait to get out of the first trimester. But more so, I REALLY want to hear the heartbeat on doppler tomorrow. Once we hear that, I will feel so much better (even though we did hear it around 6.5 weeks via vaginal u/s), it would just be a big relief. I also am sick of keeping a secret. I want everyone to know, I want to shout it from the roof top, I am so excited to become a mom!

People are starting to wonder, and I am starting to poke out of my clothes, though only gaining a pound or two as I had mentioned. I feel like my face is getting fat, which I DON'T want at all. I'm going to have to find an exercise routine that works for me sooner rather than later. At least soccer season is about over. . . I want my time back!

Week 9

So week 9 and all day sickness is here. No throwing up really but lots of nausea and it's even worse with smells. I was driving behind a livestock truck and a city bus and almost puked. Walked into a bathroom after someone dropped a bomb, and gagged. My soccer players are starting to suspect something's up and ask the other coach if I'm pregnant. . . It must be because I haven't played with them once this year and last year I hopped in and played all the time.

Weight gain so far is about 1-2 pounds, but depends on the time of day. I can handle a couple pounds in the first trimester. Since I'm considered "overweight" I'm only supposed to gain a max of 25 pounds, I do not want to be one of those women who gain 60 pounds stuffing my face with crap. I'm trying to eat well, but the only things that sound good are garbage food--you know, pizza and fried food and burgers. . .

Also, allergies/nasal congestion started to become pretty bad this week. Hubby's getting some benadryl, hope it helps! I've got my first maternity clothes from a girl at work, can't wait to ear stretchy pants :)

New Week

So, this is week 8 of pregnancy and so far so good! Morning, noon, night sickness has subsided for the most part (it rears it's ugly head if I don't eat often enough, nice right?). Today however, I woke up and my boobs that have been incredibly sore are back to normal. I freaked out and Brian thinks I'm crazy, but after some research I found that it could be my body getting used to the crazy levels of hormones coursing through it right now. I hope so. . .

Next appointment with the OB is the 22nd, hopefully we'll hear the heartbeat via doppler, but it might still be too early.

Hello Morning Sickness!

Today was bad, not as bad as it could be I'm sure, but bad! Woke up and felt yucky, ate toast and still felt yucky, and came to school feeling even worse. It's kinda subsided but still don't feel the best. I'm happy to have it, don't get me wrong, I'm just hoping that it doesn't get to a point of actually throwing up, because then teaching becomes interesting :)

Today we are meeting with the OB for the first time, interested to see what he has to say and hope we get a new picture of the babe! 7 weeks 4 days today, I will try uploading pictures that I have soon!

Break is over :(

So my spring break is over, and I'm sad! I just keep telling myself 8 more weeks, I can do it!!! One great thing came from break though--Brian and I got to see our baby's heart beat and HEAR it. It was probably one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had! Back to school tomorrow and morning sickness has slowly been creeping up--it started on Friday. We went to the zoo and into the giraffe complex and I had to run out about to barf. Then tonight I keep vomit burping and it's really gross tasting, ugh! I was hoping to be one of the lucky ones to get through pregnancy without this, but it's totally worth it!
